Building clarity for mission-driven organizations.

Structure and Communication

“We’re all wearing a lot of hats.”

Decisions bottleneck at senior leadership.

Strong outcomes depend on a handful of heroic staff.

As organizations grow, specialization and structure become necessary. The issue is rarely the existence of silos. It is the absence of coordination, communication, and clear decision-making between them. Many nonprofits unintentionally create operational bottlenecks by concentrating too much responsibility around a small number of people.

Healthy organizations create clarity around ownership, accountability, and communication so leadership and staff can operate effectively without constant escalation.

How I Can Help

I build organizational structures where none exist – defining roles, decision rights, and cross-functional accountability from scratch. I support the development of people management systems, coordinate across departments, and support organizational design during major strategic transitions.

I clear the bottlenecks that form when organizations outgrow informal management.

Questions To Consider

  • Do the right people have the right responsibilities?
  • Are decision rights clear across teams and leadership?
  • Where are roles overlapping or creating friction?
  • Are managers empowered to make decisions?
  • Does the organizational structure reflect how work actually happens?
